Liebherr launching hybrid crawler crane at bauma
New 350t crawler features drive that stores surplus energy
Liebherr will present a new HD duty cycle crawler at bauma 2013 in April, which the German crane maker says will combine traditional heavy duty crane design with state-of-the-art technologies
The 350-tonne HS 8300 HD is fitted with a hybrid drive system that stores surplus energy and is then regenerated, reducing fuel consumption and therefore lowering emissions.
The crawler crane is also fitted with hydraulic free-fall winches offering approximately 50 tonnes of line pull, and is suitable for various applications including dragline and grab operation or other material handling jobs.
Focusing on the extended service life of the HS 8300 HD, the steel fabrication of the basic machine is extremely solid and critical points were reinforced using extra high-quality materials such as carbon fibre.
Furthermore, special production methods including the use of automated welding robots increase the machine's service life even under extreme operational conditions.
The machine will be displayed at bauma with a hydraulic orange-peel grab made by Negrini.
