SAMCO has best MAN assembly process in the world
MAN’s Saudi partner deemed to have best global assembly process
Saudi Automotive Manufacturing Company (SAMCO) has been deemed to have the best MAN assembly process on the planet.
MAN Truck & Bus identified the Saudi Arabian company as its number-one global assembly partner as part of the MAN xKD Customer Days Competition.
SAMCO was awarded first place in the best-practice competition “for securing quality and increasing efficiency of its assembly plant”.
“SAMCO has a very passionate and committed team with a high work ethic,” commented Jürgen Löw, head of sales and marketing at MAN.
“In their best practices, they demonstrated continuous development of the production process such as efficient supply chain management, innovative equipment designs for the production line, and a sophisticated training system for all employees,” he added.
SAMCO’s Jeddah assembly plant, which opened during the first quarter of 2009, boasts a production capacity of 3,000 units per year. The assembly process gong was presented to the KSA firm at this year’s MAN Truck Forum.
“To be recognised by our peers is really the highest accolade we could have ever wished for, as they all work within the same xKD arena as SAMCO, building and promoting MAN as a premium product in the many challenging, different, and diverse market sectors throughout the world,” said Ken McIntosh, general manager of SAMCO.
MAN’s xKD Customer Days initiative is designed to strengthen MAN’s network of assembly partners, and to provide an overview of related processes and products.
“The xKD business is important for the company’s growth,” said Löw.
“We can proudly confirm that we have the highest premium quality standards in our production, irrespective of whether the vehicle is assembled in Europe or in the rest of the world,” he concluded.
