Renault Trucks conducts 100,000km of tests in Oman

Renault Trucks has tested its K range units across more than 100,000km of Oman’s challenging terrain.

The French truck maker, which launched both its K and C ranges for the Middle East in November 2014, conducted quality trials in Oman to ensure that its latest units could withstand typical operating conditions in the Gulf.

The 12-month trial period saw the K range transport stone, sand, and gravel across the Sultanate’s unforgiving landscape.

“Our business is to provide a range of commercial vehicles for distribution, construction, and long haul, which all allow our customers to maximise productivity while reducing operational costs,” explained Lars-Erik Forsbergh, president of Renault Trucks Middle East.

“Testing our products in real market conditions allows us to build vehicles that service our customers’ needs exactly,” he added.

Renault’s K range units were driven almost 400km per day throughout the year, covering a total of 100,000km in total. The trucks’ latest models proved capable of pulling 110 tonnes of sand in extreme heat without any engine or gearbox overload.

Forsbergh continued: “The new Renault Trucks range has undergone rigorous quality trials, and has also been exhaustively field tested under actual operating conditions. Ruggedness, driver comfort, payload, pulling capacity and easy body mounting are the features which set these trucks apart, and make [them] the perfect tools for demanding businesses.”

With significant growth anticipated within the Gulf’s construction sector, Renault says that these trials form part of its strategy to stay ahead of its competition. The manufacturer points out that in combination, the GCC countries hold a pipeline of construction projects estimated at $2,677bn.

The manufacturer has experienced three consecutive years of growth in the Middle East, and has built up a network of 36 truck centres across the region.
