Himoinsa has unveiled plans to launch two variable-speed, hybrid generators at Middle East Electricity 2015.

The products, which will be introduced in conjunction with Himoinsa’s primary Middle East distributor, FAMCO, have been designed to cater to the region’s telecommunications sector.

The Spanish genset manufacturer claims that its HPS 1500DCV and HPS3000DCV hybrid models reduce fuel consumption by 40%, and extend maintenance periods by up to 1,000 hours.

“We have designed hybrid gensets that can work efficiently without any kind of maintenance for four months,” explained Agustín Rodrigo, network development manager at Himoinsa.

“Our equipment operates on average for eight hours per day, so it requires maintenance every 125 days, i.e. every four months,” he added.

Himoinsa says that its hybrid gensets guarantee fuel consumption savings of 40% compared to standard models, and 20% in relation to fixed-speed, hybrid units. With this in mind, the firm contends that both models could significantly benefit those operating within the Middle East’s telecoms sector.

“The telecommunications sector requires a constant power supply, without failures, which maintains operation of the base transceiver station (BTS) for mobile phones 24 hours a day,” it explained.

“Considering that the life cycle of a generator set is about 15,000 operating hours, gensets [that] operate 24/7 have a life cycle of approximately a year and a half. The range of hybrid power solution generator sets developed by Himoinsa extend the life cycle of the genset by five years, as the operating periods are divided so that there are eight hours of generator set operation, and 16 hours of battery operation, every day.

“This means the useful life of the equipment has been tripled,” noted the manufacturer.

Himoinsa and FAMCO will showcase the HPS 1500DCV and HPS3000DCV models at Middle East Electricity 2015. The trade show will take place from 2-4 March at Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE.
