LiuGong reveals wheel loader tailored for the Gulf
The UAE will take delivery of the Middle East’s first LiuGong CLG888 wheel loader at the end of April
LiuGong has revealed its intention to launch a wheel loader specifically designed for the Middle East.
The CLG888 has been fitted with a Cummins QSM11-C315 engine and a “greatly improved” radiator to facilitate operations in hot and dusty conditions.
The first of these bespoke models is expected to arrive in the UAE at the end of April, and LiuGong will use this unit to gauge whether further modifications are necessary.
“The CLG888 has been tailored for operations in this region,” explained Benjamin Zhu, general manager of LiuGong Machinery (Middle East).
“The first of these wheel loaders will be dispatched to the UAE next week. Shipments from China usually take around 20 days to arrive, so we’re expecting to take delivery of the machine towards the end of April.
“First of all, we’re going to trial the CLG888 in the Emirates. Once we’re satisfied with the model’s performance in the UAE, we will expand into other GCC countries,” he told PMV.
In addition to its specially selected engine and improved radiator, the CLG888 boasts a double swing-arm Z-bar linkage for high durability and resistance to torsion. This configuration was chosen to promote powerful breakout force during heavy-duty applications.
LiuGong has also employed a ‘pre-cleaner’ filter system to improve the wheel loader’s overall efficiency in dusty conditions, and to maximise service intervals.
LiuGong claims that aftersales support will play a major role in the lead-up to the regional roll-out of the CLG888. Indeed, the news of the wheel loader’s arrival comes just months after the Chinese manufacturer partnered with UAE-based Gargash Machinery.
“The CLG888 is a new product, but before we introduce it to the market, we have to consider our aftersales support capabilities,” said Zhu.
“Fortunately, we have very good servicing and spare parts facilities here. This means that we can give effective support. We have engineers and spare parts right here in the Middle East, which means we will be better able to look after our customers’ machines,” he added.
Aside from the mechanical components, the CLG888 sports a redesigned, ergonomic cab that LiuGong claims offers improved levels of visibility and comfort. The integration of a Denso air conditioning system, for example, enabled the machine’s designers to improve cooling by 35%, compared to the previous model.
Commenting on its regional strategy, LiuGong stated: “The Middle East market is not easy for construction manufacturers to enter due to the products’ adaption, [but] as globalisation accelerates, LiuGong has adapted – and is continuously creating – products to suit the needs of different markets.”
