Dubai FM firm issues statement after fatal bus crash

The accident on 23 May, 2017, reportedly claimed seven lives and led to 35 injuries

Transguard Group confirmed that some of its employees were involved in a bus crash in Dubai earlier this week. 

According to local daily Gulf News, seven deaths and 35 injuries were reported from the incident, which occurred when the bus driver lost control after a tyre burst.

The accident occurred on the morning of 23 May, 2017, on Al Yalayis Street between Mohammad Bin Zayed Road and Shaikh Zayed Road, the report added.

In a statement to ConstructionWeekOnline, Transguard said its team is now working with medical authorities on behalf of its injured employees.

"Our welfare and staff support teams are working tirelessly, counselling [and] notifying next of kin and coordinating with the doctors and nurses on behalf of the injured in hospital," the statement continued.

Transguard's employees are "arranging visits [and] passing on personal messages as well as offering medical updates". 

The statement added: "Due to the private and confidential nature of this information and given the current circumstances, [...] we would ask you for the time-being, to respect the privacy of the bereaved, the injured, and their loved ones."
