Skyjack pushes working at height limits with SJ85 AJ articulating boom
The SJ85 AJ provides a working height of 27.73m, platform height of 25.91m, horizontal outreach of 17.07m and an up-and-over clearance of 10.36m
Skyjack’s SJ85 AJ provides a working height of 27.73m, platform height of 25.91m, horizontal outreach of 17.07m and an up-and-over clearance of 10.36m. Launched in early 2017, the SJ85 AJ features all of the same design elements as its sibling, the SJ63 AJ. The SJ85 AJ provides ‘Skyriser’ capability, the company’s riser design that offers vertical rise without drifting. An open-centre knuckle riser design provides ‘Speedyreach’ efficiency, enabling the lowering of the fly boom to ground level for re-stocking without lowering the riser. This enables operators to perform functions between the maximum platform height and ground level in 60-70 seconds.
Corey Connolly, product manager, Skyjack, said: “We’ve gone one step further with this articulating boom. Having a large unit with exceptional up-and-over clearance to complement the great working height and horizontal reach has allowed operators the ability to complete many tasks across all kinds of applications.”
Another benefit of the SJ85 AJ’s open centre knuckle design are its compact stowed dimensions; useful for transportation and reducing tailswing. The SJ85 AJ also features 360-degree continuous turret rotation, and other unique design features found only on Skyjack rough terrain booms; Easydrive, direction-sensing drive and steer controls regardless of turret position over chassis; and Axldrive, an axle-based drive system for rough terrain traction.
“Operators definitely notice how much easier it is to get to max height and back down with the SJ85 AJ. Skyjack’s riser design is what sets this product apart from similar machines in its class. There is no need to worry about performing multiple functions to lift the riser. The SJ85 AJ’s riser performs the same as all other Skyjack articulating booms – it goes straight up and down,” said Connolly.
