Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the 45 electric vehicle concept at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2019 in Frankfurt. The batteries in the 45 are set throughout the car’s ‘skateboard floor,’ contributing to its spacious interior. The model’s flat floor where the batteries are stored is nicknamed the ‘skateboard’ as it allows Hyundai to create a space that feels like a living room with new pieces of furniture.

This pilot project for burying high voltage cables is required by the German law on the expansion of the electricity grid (Gesetz zum Ausbau von Energieleitungen - EnLAG). After more than 10 years planning this 230 km of underground power lines at a voltage of 380 Kilovolts (kV) will connect the transformation substation in Wahle bei Braunschweig in Lower Saxony with the one in Mecklar bei Ludwigsau in Hesse, hence the name Wahle-Mecklar. The MB-HDS shafts screener is designed to interchange the rotating shafts directly on-site. The screener, installed on a Volvo EC250E NL excavator, sifted the dug soil directly above the trench, and the excavation is filled with the same screened material of which is composed.

The Materials Handling Middle East 2019 Forklift Challenge was held on 3-4 September 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The competition attracted 41 participants from 15 companies including Lulu Centre Logistics, CWT-SML Logistics, DP World, Agility and Global Shipping and Logistics. The forklift operators were judged on three main criteria - safety, speed and efficiency - assessing their ability to safely and efficiently manoeuver forklift machinery in tight and narrow spaces, replicating a warehouse environment.

Plug-in hybrids bring customers the best of two worlds: in town they run in all-electric mode, while on long journeys they benefit from the range of the combustion engine. By the end of 2019 Mercedes-Benz will have more than ten plug-in hybrids in its range – from compact models to the flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The aim is to be able to offer customers well over 20 model variants in 2020.
