A total of eight robots are on the road at the SEAT Martorell factory. Each convoy can carry 10 tonnes and together they transport up to 2,000 parts per day. All without magnetic guidance or cables. They cover 240 kilometers a day and share the streets with pedestrians, lorries, bicycles and cars. They control the traffic lights, communicate with their surroundings.

German company Merkel Autokrane used the new Demag AC 45 City to lift concrete panels, each of which weighed either three or six tonnes, exactly in place between support columns inside a narrow shop floor so that assembly technicians could then fasten them in place.

One of the aims of the project is to gain experience from the complex traffic and real-world situations the pilot area offers and to test the whole self-driving value chain for the first time. A successful pilot will take the company one step closer to bringing autonomous driving technology to the mainstream. Three driverless vehicles, all equipped with Sensible 4's autonomous driving software and technology, are operating on the busy streets of Pasila in Helsinki.
